GIS-Centre
The Center for Geographical Information Systems
Lund University GIS Centre is a multidisciplinary unit working with spatial phenomena. This means its research as well as its teaching focuses on how humans, environment, cultures, goods and other things are changing and/or moving over the earths surface over time and the implications of these changes. Computerised maps in combination with deep knowledge about the phenomena are essential.
The GIS Centre is also responsible for a number of exchange programs between Lund University and the Middle East, involving students as well as academic staff. Currently they are highly involved with several Erasmus Mundus External Cooperation Window programs.
CMES will be working with GIS in developing courses in migration and mobility studies for our new MA program. Understanding the movement of people is key to developing a deeper perception on the Middle East.
A more detailed page on the current work being conducted by the GIS-Centre on the Middle East will be available soon. However, until then, please refer to their website.
"What is truly unique about CMES is its pursuit for an atmosphere and structure that focuses on mentorship, openness and personal development."
