Rami Khouri’s visit in Lund

Joakim (UPF), Rami Khouri and Leif (CMES)

On February 1 CMES’ guest Rami Khouri spoke to a full hall of students and visitors in Café Athen. Despite ice-cold weather and snow many people showed up to hear him speak about “Mosque, Malls and Monarchs - The Middle East Redefines Itself.” Khouri reviewed the transformations underway throughout the Middle East in how power and legitimacy are exercised by various sectors of society, how a new balance of power is emerging between political elites, religious and tribal forces, and commercial business.

CMES would like to thank Rami Khouri for coming to Sweden and UPF for excellent organization of the event.
