Lory Dance
Senior Researcher
Lory Dance joins CMES from the University of Nebraska. Currently at CMES, she serves as the coordinator of the Middle East in Sweden research domain (MECW 4) and as the co-director of the strategic research area (Middle East in the Contemporary World). Lory is in the process of organizing two CMES research projects: (1) Swedish civil society and Middle Eastern immigrants; and (2) Critical discourse analysis and major Swedish newspaper representations of Middle Eastern immigrants. Her recent publications include "More Like Jazz than Classical: Reciprocal Interactions Among Educational Researchers and Respondents," in Harvard Education Review (Fall 2010) and "Bush, Volvos, and 50 Cent: The Cross-National Triangulation Challenges of a 'White' Swede and a 'Black' American," in Rethinking Race and Ethnicity in Research Methods (Left Coast Press, 2011).
