Nisa Göksel

Visiting Research Fellow

Nisa Göksel recently earned a Ph.D. in Sociology from Northwestern University (Evanston, U.S.), with a graduate certificate in Gender and Sexuality Studies. In 2017-2018, she was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame (Notre Dame, U.S.). Her areas of research are gender and sexuality; feminist and women’s movements in the Middle East; and war, violence, and peace-making.  While at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies (CMES), she will work on her book manuscript as well as research articles about the political mobilization of Kurdish women around peace, democracy, and women’s freedom.
