More than 50 people attended the CMES Open House on 14 September to meet the Centre’s affiliated researchers and learn about twelve current research projects. The programme featured presentations, conversations at the researchers’ poster stands and information about CMES courses in Arabic.

The day began with CMES Director Ronny Berndtsson introducing the Centre and its activities. The affiliated researchers then gave brief introductions to themselves and their projects.

Following the introductory presentations, visitors could explore the stands and speak directly with the researchers about their work. Twelve research projects took part in total.

The visitors included many students, as well as researchers and staff from across Lund University. Arabic refreshments were also served during the event.

“We have seen growing interest among students and staff, and we are already looking forward to next year’s Open House. We hope that even more students will visit us,” - Ronny Berndtsson, CMES Director.

Rafah Barhoum, Language Training Expert and Translator at CMES, presented the Arabic courses offered by CMES and explained that the Centre has received a record number of applications this semester.
