Very exciting to start up as new CMES director!

Karin Aggestam: "It has been some hectic, but very exciting weeks as new director for CMES. I am deeply impressed by the large number of scholars at Lund University who conduct cutting-edge research on the Middle East.

The House on Finngatan 16 serves as a wonderful hub for interdisciplinary research collaboration. We are in the midst of planning the start-up of CMES 2.0 to enhance its visibility and relevance both internally at Lund University and externally through societal outreach.

However, the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic poses several challenges, but also opportunities of rethinking research activities in new innovative ways. A new hybrid Middle East research seminar series for the spring 2021 is in the making, which will be open to students, scholars and the general public. We will also launch new research initiatives and open calls for grants in the spring 2021."
