Is the Syrian Conflict Over? Challenges and Opportunities for the New Administration

Research seminar Orwa Ajjoub

Orwa Ajjoub (Malmö University) visited CMES for a research seminar on the recent developments in Syria.

The first CMES Research Seminar of the spring semester 2025 attracted a large audience at Finngatan 16. The seminar featured Orwa Ajjoub, Ph.D. candidate in Global Politics at Malmö University, as the guest speaker. Ajjoub’s research explores intra-jihadi violence and the Syrian conflict. In addition to his academic work, Ajjoub serves as a research analyst and consultant, providing periodic assessments of the Syrian conflict to EU diplomats and policymakers

The seminar, titled "Is the Syrian Conflict Over? Challenges and Opportunities for the New Administration", sparked engaging discussions among attendees, shedding light on the multifaceted dynamics shaping Syria's future.

The CMES Research Seminar is the main collective seminar at CMES. Lund University researchers and invited national and international leading scholars present ongoing research and analyses of relevance for the Middle East.

The complete program for the Spring 2025 CMES Research Seminars will be presented soon.
