SUMMARY:Authoritarian Climates: (Im)mobility and the Green Transition in th
 e Middle East
DESCRIPTION:Contact: mo.hamza@risk.lth.se\n\nIn 2024\, climate disasters ca
used 45.8 million displacements\, more than double those from armed confli
ct. This workshop shifts the focus from traditional conflict-driven migrat
ion to the political and environmental drivers of (im)mobility. We investi
gate a critical paradox: how climate "solutions" themselves drive displace
ment. In authoritarian contexts\, "Green Transition" projects\, such as so
larfarms and carbon capture\, are often implemented via top-down state act
 ion and green extractivism.Register here&nbsp\;Core Research Questions:Q1:
How do authoritarian States in the Middle East contribute and respond to
displacement that arises due to action on adaptation and mitigation?&nbsp\
;Q2: Which roles do other actors play in the displacement dynamics arising
from action on adaptation and mitigation\, including corporate actors and
international development partners?&nbsp\;Q3: What legal and political to
ols are affected people using to resist displacement in these contexts\, a
nd what underexplored avenues can be engaged?Register here&nbsp\;\n\nMore
