Each semester CMES and UPF co-arrange a public event together to broaden knowledge and encourage discussion on human rights issues and the Middle East.

In February 2023, CMES and UPF hosted Dr. Pınar Dinç who gave the talk "Eleventh Hour Elections - The Past and Future of Democracy in Turkey".

In October 2022, CMES and UPF co-organized a public panel discussion on the protests in Iran with Rola El-Husseini Dean, Barzoo Eliassi, Narges Mosavat, Rouzbeh Parsi and Sarah Anne Rennick. The panel was chaired by Karin Aggestam.

In December 2021, CMES and UPF hosted Professor Isak Svensson (Uppsala University), who gave the talk "Jihadist Peace - Is Peacemaking Possible in Islamist Armed Conflicts?". The lecture is available to watch on UPF's Facebook page.
