CMES Calls

The Centre for Advanced Middle Eastern Studies supports research projects with high scientific potential through the Strategic Research Area (SRA): Middle East in the Contemporary World (MECW). Researchers at Lund University are invited to apply to the following calls.

NOW OPEN: Call for CMES Writing Retreats

CMES supports writing retreats on Middle East research with the aim to finalise an article, book chapter, edited volume or a book for publication in peer-reviewed outlets. CMES offers office space and modern research facilities in a stimulating work environment on historic premises. Administrative, practical and technical support is available on site.

Three writing retreats will be granted during the spring of 2022. Applications are open to individual researchers that hold doctoral degrees and are employed by Lund University.

Project Proposals

CMES supports research projects with high scientific potential through the Strategic Research Area (SRA) Middle East in the Contemporary World (MECW). CMES funds one new project per year and encourages cooperation between researchers from different disciplines within Lund University.

CMES Writing Retreats

Research Initiation

MECW offers seed money for research initiation and preparation of applications for national and international research calls. 

Travel Grants, Field Work and Conference/Workshop Participation

MECW offers travel grants for conducting field work in the Middle East and conference/workshop participation with paper presentations focused on Middle East studies.
