Monday (1st) is the deadline for applying to our November freestanding course CMEN17: Gender and Sexuality in the Middle East (PDF) with Eda Farsakoglu. Other freestanding courses are available for the Spring semester.
On Tuesday (2nd) we have the pleasure of hosting Dr Emilia Palonen (Department of Political Science, University of Helsinki), in conversation with Spyros Sofos on the topic of "Rethinking Populism from Hungary to the Middle East.” The event will take place at 15:30 in the CMES Seminar Room, Finngatan 16, and light refreshments will be served.

On Wednesday (26th) we hosted our second public lecture of the Fall 2018 Semester. Beth Baron, Distinguished Professor of History at City College and Graduate Center, CUNY and Director, Middle East and Middle Eastern American Center, The Graduate Center, City University of New York, gave an open lecture entitled "Birthing Egyptians: Medicine, Museums, and Hard Labors". A short interview with Beth will be uploaded soon.
