Dr David Warren's talk at CMES, Wednesday 19th September

On Tuesday (25th) and Wednesday (26th), CMES will host a closed workshop organized by Affiliated Researcher Maria Småberg entitled "Mission and Gender in the Middle East - Transnational lives and biographical perspectives (PDF)". During the workshop, researchers will discuss short papers dealing with experiences and challenges of writing about transnational lives and biographical perspectives.
On Wednesday (26th) at 16:00, we welcome Beth Baron, Distinguished Professor of History at City College and Graduate Center, CUNY and Director, Middle East and Middle Eastern American Center The Graduate Center, City University of New York, who will give an open lecture entitled "Birthing Egyptians: Medicine, Museums, and Hard Labors". On Wednesday (19th) we hosted David Warren, Postdoctoral Research Fellow at The Alwaleed Centre for the Study of Islam in the Contemporary World, University of Edinburgh, for our first public lecture of the Fall 2018 Semester. His talk, entitled "Cleansing the Nation of the ‘Dogs of Hell’ Muslim Scholarly Support for the 3 July Egyptian Coup and its Bloody Aftermath", was well attended and prompted a lot of discussion and debate.
