Visiting Research Fellow
Nazanin Shahrokni has a PhD in sociology from UC-Berkeley, and is currently an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. She has held positions at the Harvard Academy for International and Area Studies as a Postoctoral fellow, and at the American University of Beirut as the Mary Fox Whittlesey Chair and Visiting Assistant Professor of Sociology. Her research interests and publications fall at the intersection of gender studies, political sociology, and urban studies. Her book, Women in Place: The State and the Politics of Gender Segregation in Iran, is under contract with the University of California Press. Nazanin is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Middle East Women’s Studies and the Middle East Report (MERIP). She also serves on the Executive Committee of the International Sociological Association.
