Eda’s work is centred on the interplay of gender, sexuality and migration. Her dissertation project examines migratory experiences of Iranian sexual dissidents who seek temporary asylum and wait for resettlement in Turkey. Theoretically, her work draws on post/de-colonial, queer/feminist and materialist approaches to migration, mobilities, identities, belonging, and everyday life.
Eda is passionate about teaching, particularly on critical migration, citizenship and refugee studies, queer/feminist theories and methodologies, globalization and transnationalization processes, and qualitative social research methods. Her teaching experience ranges from first-year introductory courses to graduate courses on numerous subjects. She has convened the ‘Gender, Citizenship and Migration’ (undergraduate level, Department of Gender Studies). She also co-coordinated several undergraduate courses including ‘Fieldwork, Internship, and Research Overview’ and ‘Bachelor Thesis in Development Studies’ (both offered by the Department of Sociology as a part of the BIDS program curriculum). Additionally, she has worked as an instructor for smaller sections of several undergraduate and graduate level courses offered by different departments at Lund University. Undergraduate level: International Migration and Development, the Sociology of Human Development, Development Policy and Practice (all offered by the Department of Sociology). Graduate level: Critical Feminist Perspectives in Social Theory (Graduate School: Faculty of Social Sciences); Social Sciences: Gender, Class, Ethnicity and Sexuality (Graduate School: Faculty of Social Sciences); Gender and Nation in Europe (Department of Gender Studies). In Spring 2018, she will teach small parts of an undergraduate course (Gender, Social Change, and Modernity), and a graduate course (Perceptions and Politics of Migration, Asylum and Integration) convened by the Department of Gender Studies and CMES, respectively.
