Karin Aggestam is the new director of CMES

Karin Aggestam

Karin Aggestam will start her job as Director of the Centre for Middle eastern Studies October 1. She is a Professor of Political Science and holds the Samuel Pufendorf Endowed Chair (Ragnar Söderbergs and Torsten Söderbergs Stiftelser).

Karin is also Honorary Professor at University of Queensland and Adjunct Professor at Monash University,  Australia. Aggestam is Excellent Teaching Practitioner (ETP) at the Teaching Academy and former Director of Peace & Conflict Studies at Lund University. She is Regional Editor of European Journal of International Security and Co-Editor of Routledge book series Law, Conflict and International Relations.

Her current interdisciplinary research interest is focused on peace diplomacy, gender, conflict analysis, foreign policy, negotiation/mediation and the Middle East. She has published nine books, numerous international journal articles and book chapters as well as contributions to Handbooks on Conflict Resolution, Diplomacy, Environmental Peacebuilding, Women, Peace, Security, Political Psychology and MIddle East Security.

 

Ronny Berndtsson will continue working at CMES in the role as deputy director.
