Turkey Beyond Borders - Critical Voices, New Perspectives
This project aims to foster collaboration between academics in Sweden and scholars from Turkey whose academic freedoms are implicitly or explicitly curtailed and violated.
Over the past years, there has been a severe restriction of academic freedoms in Turkey. Academics have been dismissed, imprisoned, suffered administrative penalties, and been forced to operate within an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty. This project aims to foster collaboration between academics in Sweden and scholars from Turkey whose academic freedoms are implicitly or explicitly curtailed and violated.
Project launch for “Turkey Beyond Borders: Critical Voices, New Perspectives”, a project supported by the Swedish Institute. Project coordinator Dr. Pinar Dinc (Lund University) came together with two members of the advisory board of the project, Dr. Deniz Erkmen (Özyeğin University), and Dr. Olga S. Hünler (Freie Universität Berlin), to talk about the content and aims of the project and discuss academia in times of academic freedom violations in Turkey. This online event was open to the public.
The project is composed of a seminar and vodcast series on selected themes and subjects. Vodcasts (with subtitles) are openly accessible to the public through this website and other social media platforms such as Youtube (with English subtitles) and Spotify (in the original language the lectures are recorded).
