At first, the overthrow of old regimes raised hopes for a more open and liberated society, but these hopes did not last long. Feminist organizations in countries such as Egypt and Tunisia have faced state repression in recent years, and several groups have had their assets frozen or been outright banned. This in turn has led to new ways of organizing and practicing feminist resistance. The chapter primarily examines the increased importance of digital platforms for feminist activism and the emergence of "fourth wave feminism", which is characterized, among other things, by the relationship between digital and traditional activism. The Arab Spring not only led to a new political environment, but also provided valuable lessons in the effective use of social media and digital tools to drive change.
