Director of Swedish Dialogue Institute Charlotta Sparre Visits CMES

On 6 February, Director Charlotta Sparre visited CMES and spoke about the work at the Swedish Dialogue Institute for the Middle East and North Africa in Amman, Jordan.

Charlotta Sparre is the Director of the Swedish Dialogue Institute for the Middle East and North Africa. She has previously served as Ambassador of Sweden to Egypt 2013-2017 and to Jordan 2008-2013 and has held a number of other positions in the Swedish Foreign Service. She is also a member of the Advisory Council of the Secretary General of Religions for Peace. She has published numerous articles and was the co-editor of the book ‘Reconstructing the Middle East’, published by Routledge in 2017. In addition to this, Charlotta is member of the CMES Board.

At CMES, Charlotta spoke about her work at the Dialogue Institute and her decades long experience of working in the MENA region. Together with CMES staff and students, she discussed her role as a civil servant, views of Sweden in MENA and working as a diplomat in the current geopolitical climate. Charlotta also discussed the Institute's work on Intergenerational Dialogue.
