Lina Eklund EESA

CMES Researcher Lina Eklund and the collaboration Decentralised Damage Mapping Group have been granted a prestigious award by the European Space Agency.

The European Space Agency's Earth Observation Excellence Award is presented annually to early-career researchers, in recognition of outstanding contributions to scientific advancement and innovation using Earth observation data. This year, the award honours both an individual and a team.

The team award goes to the international collaboration The Decentralised Damage Mapping Group (DDMG), which uses Earth observation datasets to assess damage in conflict and disaster-affected regions. CMES Researcher Lina Eklund is part of the collaboration and has led the nomination effort on behalf of the team.

DDMG will receive a grant of up to €65 000 and the Award Ceremony will take place on 25 June 2025 during the ESA Living Planet Symposium in Vienna.
