NEW CMES BLOG

This week on the brand new blog CMES researchers Pinar Dinc, Orwa Ajjoub and Spyros A. Sofos contribute texts that attempt to shed light on the questions arising from the increased volatility in the region.

Dinc and Sofos provide their takes on the implications of the US military withdrawal from Northern and Northeastern Syria in Syria, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (also known as Rojava) and Ajjoub argues that rumours about the total defeat of the Islamic State are exaggerated.

We would like to thank Lund University’s Apropå for allowing us to post an English language version of Pinar Dinc’s analysis, the Conflict Archives for consenting to us featuring a slightly revised version of Orwa Ajjoub’s article on ISIS in our blog and the Perspective for granting us permission to publish an interview with Spyros Sofos.

We hope that you will find this week’s commentaries useful and we always welcome inquiries, comments, suggestions on our work.
