After a well-deserved summer break, the CMES team gathered for a two-day kick-off at the beautiful Åhus Seaside to strategise and coordinate for the upcoming academic year. The autumn program for the CMES seminar series is already in place, offering a wide range of exciting topics.

Next week, the new MECW three-year project will be presented focusing on satellite monitoring of environmental changes in contexts of conflict and governance stress. Also in September, Dalia Abdelhady will give a talk on Syrian refugees in Jordan and Turkey, a writing project she will be working on during her CMES writing retreat this autumn.

We are also pleased to welcome new colleagues to CMES: Linus Edlund as a Communication Officer, and Alexandra Cermeno, Andrés Palacio and Amir Naghibi as researchers in the new MECW-project

Do not miss CMES Open House on 5 September, 13.00-14.30! Students and researchers at Lund University are invited to meet the CMES team, learn more about our Centre and our Arabic language courses and enjoy Arabic snacks and sweets. This autumn, CMES is offering three Arabic language courses, with the application deadline fast approaching on 8 September. Don’t miss your chance to apply! / Karin Aggestam, CMES Director and MECW Coordinator
