On Thursday 20 March, CMES welcomed Noah Salomon (University of Virginia) for the research seminar "Reimagining History, Rethinking Sudan". The seminar focused on Sudan and how the ancient history of the country was used in Sudan's 2018-2019 revolution.
Noah Salomon is Associate professor in Islamic Studies at the University of Virginia and the author of For Love of the Prophet: An Ethnography of Sudan's Islamic State. During the 2024-2025 academic year, he is a visiting research fellow in Islamic Studies at the Centre for Theology and Religious Studies at Lund University.
